A huge masonry arch stands at the entrance of the Venice Biennale central pavilion. It is erected from different bent sections by Solano Benítez. He wins with this installation the Golden Lion for best participant at the Architecture Biennale 2016. The installation focuses on working with the two most easily available materials: bricks and unqualified labor. The Paraguayan architect created a structure with a pointed arch from a material that is present everywhere and turning it into something aesthetically pleasing that can be built even by the unqualified.
